Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from our little bumblebee! She may be too young to trick-or-treat (which appears to be debatable, considering some of the stroller-bound trick-or-treaters who came to my door tonight), but she’s certainly not too young for an adorable costume!

Alexis helped us hand out candy to the small number of trick-or-treaters who came to our door. I was sad to see that most of the houses near ours were dark, and I waxed nostalgic about the Halloweens of my childhood. It seemed to me that the streets were full of children in costumes when I was a kid, and most of the houses passed out candy… more houses than you could ever get to in the night. I also don’t recall Halloween being scheduled by the city to occur between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m., with children expected to be off the street by 8:30 at the latest. I remember being out after dark. I hope all the kids I didn’t see tonight had a good Halloween somewhere else. Husband and I will just have to eat their candy for them.

So cute! I love her little bee costume!

Yeah, Halloween is so different now than what I remember from childhood. Not sure if it’s the times or the place (growing up in a small, rather rural community vs. living in a big suburb). But we only got a handful of kids at our house this year, and they mostly came in the late afternoon. Also, I couldn’t tell who/what most of them were dressed as, making me officially old and out of touch. đŸ™‚

I thought the fact that I was talking about Halloween “back in my day” made me old and out of touch, so welcome to the club!
