It’s 38 weeks today! I can’t believe how fast time is moving. Despite the alarmingly fast pace at which time is moving, baby doesn’t appear to have any desire to be born yet. That’s fine. I’ll take the time to clean house and get more rest, doctor’s orders. Fortunately, between vertigo exercises and iron supplements, my vertigo appears to have abated. Thank goodness, because that was awful.
At this point, baby is newborn sized (no more fruit… well, maybe one more: baby is the size of watermelon!), and isn’t doing much besides shedding lanugo and building up surfectant in the lungs (the better to breathe with, my dear). All along, people have been telling me whether I am having a boy or a girl. Apparently they have insider knowledge I am not privy to. I think it’s interesting that the majority say girl, but that everyone closest to me says boy. Baby hasn’t said one way or the other yet. There’s also been some talk about how much baby will weigh and when baby will finally decide to arrive. I’m betting that baby will weigh more than 8 pounds and will arrive late, as in, not until August.
Husband and I have been busy with baby preparations. The dresser is finished and is just right in the nursery (although we won’t be spray painting anymore furniture in the foreseeable future.)
New shelves have been mounted on the wall, the ugly old ceiling fan was replaced with a pretty new one, and a sunny yellow clock is up now, too.
All the nursery really needs now is some art, and once the 10×10 frame I ordered (it’s very hard to find a simple white 10×10 frame!) arrives, the art will go up. Well, the art that I have. I have one frame that is waiting for a print from Sarah Jane Studios, but I’m waiting until after baby arrives to decide which print to buy.
Other things we’re definitely doing this week: I’m packing my hospital bag (yeah, I’ve been bad and haven’t done that yet), we’re meeting with a potential pediatrician (yeah, we’ve been bad and haven’t done that yet), and we’re installing the car seat in my car (yeah, yeah, you know.)
