And just like that, another week has passed. And now it’s 26 weeks, with only 14 left to go. Fourteen weeks sounds like a lot less time than three and a half months.
Baby is now about the size of a head of lettuce, but hopefully much cuter. Apparently, thumb sucking practice starts this week. Baby is still kicking and punching, and still stealthily avoiding being felt from the outside. In addition to being kicked, I’ve also started to feeling a generally sense of “fullness” that isn’t particularly pleasant. Oh, and the sciatica that started last Thursday and hasn’t really gone away since isn’t much fun, either. But I imagine both these things mean baby is still growing, so I can’t complain too much. Particularly when I think about how I don’t have much else to complain about. Thanks, baby, for keeping it easy.
Actually, I’ve been feeling quite grateful to be having a baby that has caused me so little trouble thus far, and has only made me crave delicious fruit. Surely this means I’m going to have a very sweet baby, right?
In nursery news, the mattress I ordered, as well as the mattress pad and fitted sheet, arrived and have completed the crib, which looks much nicer now that it’s not just a cage. The kitties believe I have built them a personal cave underneath the crib. I’m thinking about sewing a crib skirt, rather than buying one. I’m still thinking about what fabric to use. I have some Ginger Blossom fabric which would be terribly cute, but it’s also rather pink, and pink is the only color I’m not sure I can swing as “gender neutral.”
This coming week, I have a sonogram-free monthly check up scheduled. I’m going to miss getting my monthly baby picture, but I’m sure baby won’t mind not being pestered. Instead, I’ll be taking my glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes. Here’s hoping it’s not too gross.
