Yesterday was the 24 week mark, but I couldn’t blog about it because I was out cold. I was so very tired yesterday, I went to bed as soon as I came home from work and only got up long enough to eat some dinner before I went back to bed for the night. It must have been a busy growing day for baby!
Speaking of growing, baby now weighs more than 1 1/2 pounds and is as about as long as an ear of corn. (In the fruit department, think grapefruit.) By next week, baby should be a solid 2 pounds. That does seem like a pretty intense growth spurt. Baby is starting to put on adorable baby fat and grow capillaries, so he or she doesn’t have to be see-through forever. Baby is also growing hair, which is colorless, but may already have defining characteristics like a cowlick… I wonder if baby will inherit daddy’s cowlick?
In the last week, I think we may have officially settled on our name choices. Sunday, I felt compelled to clean out under the kitchen sink and in the laundry closet (no small task!). I think that may be what people talk about when they say someone’s “nesting.” But under my sink sure does look nice now.
We also assembled the new crib today, and I think it’s wonderful. Now I have to research crib mattresses, not to mention the million other things I need to research and make my mind up about. I had a baby anxiety dream last night about all the little things I have to get done in the next 16 weeks or so before baby arrives. I need to make a list of things to do and buy so I can stop feeling overwhelmed.
