Some Links

Some links I’ve come across this week that I think are worth sharing:

  • This link to Social Privilege and Mom Blogging, was shared by another mom-to-be on Facebook. Interesting observations about the general lack of diversity among mom bloggers. And while anecdotal evidence certainly isn’t the best evidence, the observations do fit with my own experience of mom blogging.
  • I love Symphony of Science. I’m reminded of that every time someone on Facebook shares another one S0S video. Best combination of autotune and science. My eternal love for Carl Sagan doesn’t hurt, either. One of my favorites:
  • The Myth of the 8 Hour Sleep – This is fascinating. I had no idea that a solid 8-hour (give or take a few) chunk of sleep was not the evolutionary norm. Definitely makes me feel better about regularly waking up in the middle of the night.

Good article about the mom blogs. As I started reading the comments I was thinking that they made a better read than the article. It wasn’t too long before they went down hill and it was a typical collection of commenters trying to out sass each other while pretending they didn’t have thin skins. I found myself remembering why I normally don’t read comments on any sort of article, and didn’t finish. Now I’m off to see the Caral Sagan video…
