Not My Finest

I’ve been pretty tired today. Slept in until 10, took at a nap at 4:30. Husband and I were supposed to go to the store to buy groceries for the week, but between all the sleeping, I haven’t gotten the menu planned. Tonight’s dinner was supposed to be on the menu.

So instead of hastily planning a menu and spending a bunch of time shopping, which would make for a late dinner and a grumpy me, I’m making whatever I can find in the cupboard. Which turns out to be baked macaroni and cheese, matzo ball soup, and frozen corn and peas. Thank goodness for the peas, or this would be a solidly yellow meal. (I hate monochromatic meals.) Honestly, I’m a little embarrassed by this dinner. But it beats going to the store tonight.

When I get my act together this week, I’m thinking I might try making this beautiful Cherry-Vanilla Layer Cake from Sprinkle Bakes for Valentine’s Day.

Are you making anything special for Valentine’s Day this year? I’d love to know about it!

Mmm, the cake looks yummy. I hadn’t thought about what to make for Valentine’s Day. Now I’m thinking a nice, moist cake would be a good idea. 🙂
I was thinking about your sugar cookies today. I think you make them better than I do… either your mixing or your husband’s baking. Either way, they were the best I’ve had since Grandma use to send them.
Sorry to hear you are feeling so worn out. Be sure you are drinking plenty of water and letting your mind settle only on the happy thoughts. 🙂 Here’s a happy thought – I’m heading to the Post Office tomorrow with a package for you 🙂 XO
