As I explained in this post, we pick up our CSA share on Tuesdays, so that’s when I plan our weekly menu. This week, our share included green peppers, garlic, arugula, carrots, Japanese turnips, and komatsuna. Komatsuna, also called Japanese choi, is new to me. Searching around online for a komatsuna recipe, Google sent me right back to my CSA farmer, who provided the perfect recipe. So dinner at my house this week is going to consist of:
- Stir-fried Asian Style Komatsuna (also uses those Japanese turnips, and is a good source of folic acid and other important vitamins.)
- Arugula Pesto Wheat Berries + seitan
- Lasagna with salad and bread
- Vegetarian Sausage Pizza + salad
- Potato and Cauliflower Samosas
- Chunky Celery Soup + bread
- Barbeque Portobello Quesadillas
Last Week’s Menu
Last week’s menu was not a complete success. I thought the Pumpkin Gnocchi with Sage Butter and the Bok Choy and Baked Tofu were both a little too bland for my tastes. The Curried Mustard Greens with Kidney Beans were amazingly good, and the Green Tomato and Zucchini Gratin was quite tasty. The veggie tacos and Cheddar, Corn, & Potato Chowder were also delicious, but I knew they would be.
